“I’d encourage as many Newcastle businesses as possible to take a look at the business support programme and find out how it can help them – it’s free, and it can provide help in many ways.”

The Government’s Connection Voucher scheme, which offers grants worth up to £3,000 in order to help small and medium sized businesses around any of 22 cities across the United Kingdom to gain access to a superfast business broadband (30Mbps+) service is said to extend the £40 million scheme to March 2016! Additional funding and expanded coverage is also confirmed.

So far the scheme, launched in 2013, has allowed over 3,000 small to medium enterprises to get superfast business broadband from a range of ISPs. The vouchers are designed to cover for the installation of next-gen broadband services which can often be prohibitively expensive for start-ups and small enterprises.

Biosignatures a small business in Newcastle received a Connection Voucher from Go Digital Newcastle for new computers to speed up their research work which will help them to develop blood tests to save cancer patients from undergoing irrelevant biopsies.
Cllr Michael Johnson, Newcastle City Council Deputy Cabinet Member for Skills, Business and Enterprise, said: “I’d encourage as many Newcastle businesses as possible to take a look at the business support programme and find out how it can help them – it’s free, and it can provide help in many ways.”
